1 dead, 5 injured in Laventille shooting

One man is dead, with two others in critical condition, and three more nursing gunshot injuries following a shooting incident in Laventille on Friday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Isiah Sanchez.

Sanchez, a father of one, was standing in the courtyard of Clifton Hill, Laventille when a vehicle drove into the compound.

In the presence of children who were playing in the yard, as well as pregnant women and mothers, the two men pulled out what appeared to be automatic rifles and began to shoot at persons in a haphazard manner.

The two men then returned to the vehicle and escaped.

In the aftermath of the shooting Sanchez, along with Joel Williams, 20; Andy Huggins, 21; Pamela Lee, 34; Sheldon Jemont, 27; and Raymond Anthony, 55, were all injured.

They were all rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where they were treated.

Sanchez eventually succumbed to his injuries.

More on this as it becomes available.
