10 held in Northern Division as array of guns, ammo found
Ten suspects have been arrested following an anti-crime exercise in the Northern Division.
Around 5.10 pm on Wednesday, a party of officers executed a search warrant at a home on Carmen Street, St Helena. A search saw one chrome and brown revolver with six rounds of .38 ammunition along with 93 rounds of assorted ammunition being found.
The items were seized and three people were arrested in connection with the find.
Additionally, the officers also executed a search warrant at a home on San Pablo Street, Valencia. They found and seized one black and green Glock 26 firearm fitted with one magazine and 10 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition. The lawmen also found a black extended magazine containing 15 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition in a wooden cupboard. Five people were detained as a result.
Furthermore, several drug blocks were searched in the Arima, Pinto, Malabar, La Horquetta, and Maloney districts. An air pistol was found and seized and two people were also arrested for keeping an illegal gaming house.
The exercise was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Ramkelawan, ASP Gyan, acting Insp Pitt and supervised by acting Corporal Gordon and PC Hall. It included a party of officers of the Major Operations Unit and Canine Unit.
The 12-hour operation ended at 1 am on Thursday.
