$100 bill demonetisation process a success, says Stuart

The $100 bill demonetisation exercise was completed on schedule and according to plan.

This is according to National Security Minister Stuart Young.

“The demonetisation process is one that Trinidad and Tobago can and should be proud of.The exercise was competed on schedule and according to plan," he told Loop News.

He also thanked those who made the process a success.

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of those who worked hard to make it a success, the Central Bank, our security forces, the major banks and UTC and all of their personnel, the other personnel who monitored transactions and will now set about doing the detailed analysis and lastly the public for demonstrating that we as a people can conduct ourselves in an orderly and mature manner to be one of the only countries in the world to ever complete a demonetisation exercise in a short timeframe without any incidents."

The old $100 cotton note ceased to be legal tender from January 1.
