$109K in weed found in boat off Erin Beach

Officers of the South Western Division found and seized a quantity of marijuana in an empty boat off Erin Beach on Tuesday.

According to police reports, officers received information which led them to the beach.

A team of officers led by Sgt. Gosine spotted a blue and white pirogue anchored offshore around 9 am.

The officers carried out a search of the vessel and found three bags containing a total of 18 packets of marijuana.

The drugs weighed 10.98 kilogrammes and had an estimated street value of $109,800.

The drugs were subsequently taken to be destroyed.

PC Joseph, of the Erin Police Station, is continuing enquiries into the discovery.
