$150k bail for Chaguanas man charged with fraud

A 26-year-old man from Chaguanas was granted $150,000 bail when he appeared before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate charged with uttering a forged document.

Last Tuesday, Nehemiah Joseph, from Palmiste, Chaguanas, went to the Port-of-Spain High Court to make an application for bail for a person currently remanded in custody for drug trafficking.

He presented a valuation report and a certified copy of protocol of deeds to the Registrar of the High Court in support of the application.

However, the documents were later discovered to be forged and the Fraud Squad was contacted.

Joseph was subsequently charged by Acting Cpl Nowbutt, following investigations supervised by Snr. Acting Supt. Totaram Dookhie.
