17-year-old in critical condition after Santa Cruz shooting

Two persons are warded at the Port of Spain General Hospital following a shooting in Santa Cruz.

Among them is a 17-year-old boy while the other victim is aged 20.

Both young men are said to be from Sam Boucaud, Santa Cruz.

According to police reports, at about 10:50 pm on Thursday, the two men were walking along Akar Trace, in the vicinity of the pan tent, when they were confronted by a gunman.

The two young men attempted to flee the scene but heard shots fired, and then they both felt burning sensations about their body.

Residents who heard the gunfire notified the police and paramedics, and the two victims were rushed to the hospital.

The 17-year-old remains in a critical condition up to Saturday morning.
