$175,000 bail for Tobago cop charged with raping teen

A police officer attached to the Tobago Division has been granted $175,000 bail with surety or a $25,000 cash alternative, after appearing before a Scarborough Magistrate charged with statutory rape.
The 24-year-old faced judge Sherene Murray-Bailey on Friday charged with four counts of sexual penetration of a 15-year-old female victim.
This follows advice received from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard on Thursday.
The matter has been postponed to July 24.
The accused was charged by acting W/Sgt Cavelle Mills-Walters of the Tobago Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) after a report was made to officers surrounding alleged sexual abuse over an extended period of time.
The investigation was supervised by acting W/Supt George, ASP Nowbutt, and Sgt Miller.
