18-yr-old held for questioning while visiting police station

In an interesting turn of events, an 18-year-old, who was signing in at the Malabar police station for a court matter, was held for questioning in connection with another crime.

According to police reports, the teenager visited the station on Wednesday to have his notebook signed as he was out on bail for another court matter.

However, while he was at the station, investigators said they recognised the teenager as someone who had allegedly broken into a maxi-taxi along the Malabar Main Road on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV footage, showed a man stealing a cellular phone.

The suspect was recognised by the investigators as a “repeat offender” in the area, and as such, he was detained when he came to the station.

The suspect has since denied the allegations, however, inquiries are ongoing.

More on this as it becomes available.
