19-yr-old held in connection with Carnival robberies
A 19-year-old Carenage man is expected to be charged in connection with the robbery of 13 nationals from the Bahamas during the Carnival season.
The teenager was positively pointed out during an identification parade on Saturday by the driver of the vehicle which was robbed.
The teenager was among persons arrested last week in Carenage after investigators received credible information on the location of the suspects.
None of the stolen items were found.
The other suspects were due to be placed on identification parades on Monday.
The incident reportedly took place at about 10:30 pm on February 10.
The 13 visitors, along with the taxi-driver, were on their way to the Insomnia fete in Chaguaramas, when they were held up by a group of men in the vicinity of McKenzie Street, Carenage.
The group was robbed of their cash and valuables.
The bandits then fled the scene and a report was made to the Central Police Station, in Port of Spain.
Senior Superintendent Ajith Persad, along with Inspector Godfrey Vincent and Sgt Anthony Williams, have been supervising inquiries into the report.
More on this as it becomes available.
