Mason Hall and Roxborough Secondary Schools in Tobago will benefit from two newly formed Tech Clubs, courtesy Digicel Foundation.  Over 50 students were present at the launch of the programme where students learn about their digital citizenship through their involvement in the Tech Club.

The Digital Citizenship Programme is a collaboration between the Digicel Foundation and “Restore A Sense of I Can” (RSC) in which the sum of TT$110,000 was invested to establish four Tech Clubs – two in Trinidad; Chaguanas South Secondary and Coryal, and another two in Tobago.

Under the programme, students explore the topics of PC Repairs, Cyber Security, Cyber Bullying and also focus on the schematics of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Media and other IT related topics.

The Tobago students were encouraged to become technologically passionate about their Club and really take advantage of the opportunity which they should view as a gift that they can give to themselves and to others.  Each school was provided with its own PC Repair Kit and will participate in a number of Tech Expos in coming weeks.

The Tobago schools, through RSC, will also partner with the Tobago Emergency Management Authority (TEMA) in the hope that they would delve into the topic of technology in emergency management and life-saving strategies.

TEMA’s Assistant Director and Chief of Operations, Earl Hernandez, was at the launch to meet with the students and share the hopes of the programme to students in Tobago.
