$200K bail for operating supervisor charged with gun, ammo possession

A Chaguanas man was granted $.2 million dollars bail after he appeared before a Siparia Magistrate on Monday charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Travis Sinanan, 35, of Palmiste Village, Chaguanas, was arrested by officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF) after police intercepted a Paramount Transport van being driven by Sinanan at St. Mary’s Junction, South Oropouche around 10 am.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers allegedly found a Pietro Berretta Gardone pistol along with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition in the console of the vehicle.

Sinanan, an Operating Supervisor for Paramount Transport Ltd, was arrested in connection with the find and charged by PC Brian Cummings of the SWDTF.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court to answer the charges.

He was granted $200,000 bail with surety and the matter was postponed to July 8.
