21 companies sign first Local Content Charter

The CEOs of T&T’s major oil, gas and petrochemical companies have stated their commitment to working towards increased local content in their operations.

This, as 21 companies signed on to a charter on Monday at the Trinidad and Tobago Energy Conference 2017, hosted by the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago.

They will also commit to work with other stakeholders such as the Energy Chamber and education/training organisations.

The Local Content Charter is meant to create a voluntary industry-led process for companies to work together in this effort.

President and CEO of the Energy Chamber Dr Thackwray Driver said he is hopeful that even more companies will sign on to the charter soon.

In the past, there have been many individual company policies around local content, and Monday’s signing is the first time that they have committed to coordinate their strategies and work together.
