250K bail granted for Maraval man in Rape and Abduction case

A Maraval man was granted $250,000 bail when he appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Friday, charged with multiple offenses including rape and grievous sexual assault against a 22-year-old Petit Valley woman.
Dowlin Roper, 44, a contractor of Cameron Hill, Maraval, was also charged with abduction with intent and choking with intent when he appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed, in the 7th Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charges.
The incident was said to have occurred at Farm Road, St. Joseph and at Maraval on September 8. The victim subsequently made a report to the West End Police Station on September 21.
The Magistrate instructed Roper to stay 500 feet away from the victim and not have any communication with her whatsoever.
Upon securing bail, the Maraval man has to report to the Maraval Police Station, every Monday between 6 am to 6 pm.
Roper was charged on November 9 by PC Kevin Joseph.
