For the third time in the past week, a man was shot and killed during a confrontation with police officers.

According to police reports, the deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Dillon Matthews from Mano Trace, Enterprise.

LoopTT was told that at around 2.30 am on Wednesday morning, officers of the Central Division, with assistance with officials from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF), were conducting exercises in the Enterprise district when they had cause to search a home along Mango Trace.

Upon entering the home, the officers were allegedly shot at. Officers said they were fearful for their lives and returned fire.

Matthews, aka Dillon McLean, was hit several times to his upper torso.

He was rushed to the Chaguanas District Hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries.

A loaded firearm was said to have been recovered on the scene.

On June 27, Keon Matthews was shot and killed by police along the Solomon Hochoy Highway, while in a separate incident, 29-year-old Deon Williams died after being shot by police officers in La Horquetta on June 29.
