It will cost Government $35,500 euros (around $271,014 TT) to lease Maltese ferry the Jean de la Valette.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley made the revelation in response to a question from Pointe-a-Pierre MP David Lee during the Prime Minister's Questions during Monday's sitting of the Parliament.
Meanwhile, responding to another question from the Pointe-a-Pierre MP on the estimated cost of dredging the Port to accommodate the vessel, Rowley indicated that engineering works were currently underway.
Government has leased the vessel for a period of a year with the option to renew for six months as a medium-term measure to ensure uninterrupted service on the inter-island sea bridge.
The vessel is on its way to Trinidad and is expected to arrive in the country by the end of May.
