29-year-old shot by assailants in Carenage

A 29-year-old man is nursing gunshot injuries following a shooting incident in Carenage on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Isiah Marcelle.

According to police reports, Marcelle was at his home in Carenage on Thursday morning when he was awakened at 5 am by knocking on the door.

Someone at the door called out, claiming to be police.

Marcelle looked out his window and saw a group of men who were not dressed in police uniforms.

He became suspicious and attempted to flee from his home.

The men, however, noticed him trying to escape and opened fire on the 29-year-old.

Marcelle was hit in his right leg, but he was able to evade his assailants.

The police were notified and the wounded man was rushed for medical treatment.

A team of officers led by ASP Ramesar, Sgt Maraj, Sgt Nicome, and Cpl Duprey, among several others visited the scene.
