$2m bail for Maloney couple held with marijuana
A Maloney couple has been placed on bail of $1 million each, after appearing before an Arima Magistrate for marijuana possession.
The couple Tyrone Marcano, 43, and Elizabeth Peterson, 51, appeared before Magistrate Alica Chankar.
Cpl Damien Ali was the complainant (charging officer) in this matter.
The accused were not called upon to enter a plea.
After further submissions, the matter was adjourned.
The couple was arrested on Monday night after 60 packets of compressed marijuana were found at their house.
According to police reports, around 7.30 pm on Monday, a party of officers led Sgt Katwaroo, received information which led them to an apartment along Building 13, Maloney Gardens.
In a room at the eastern side of the apartment, the officers found and seized two crocus bags.
The bags contained 60 packets of compressed marijuana, which had a combined weight of over 30 kilogrammes.
The exercise also included assistance from a party of officers from the Maloney CID including Cpl Ali, PC Winter, PC Lawrence, and PC Bartholomew, among several others.
