Police destroyed marijuana fields worth approximately TT$4.95 million in Biche.

According to a statement issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Friday, police found five marijuana fields on 10 lots of land containing 4,700 fully grown marijuana trees, 1,000 seedlings, 25 kilogrammes of dried marijuana and 25 kilogrammes of seeds.

The trees, seeds, seedlings and dried marijuana were all subsequently destroyed.

Police said the find was destroyed by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, during a marijuana eradication exercise, conducted in the Biche district, on Thursday.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Andy Belfon and a team of officers between 7:30 am and 12:30 pm, on May 16, 2019. They were assisted by personnel from the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit and the Air Support Unit.

This eradication exercise comes on the heels of TT$11 million in marijuana trees being destroyed in the Biche district on Tuesday.

Investigations are ongoing.
