$400k bail for officers who stole $21
Two police officers have been granted bail after being slapped with three counts of misbehaviour in public office for allegedly assaulting, kidnapping and robbing a 17-year-old of $21.00.
The officers, Kershawn Gloudeon, 23 and Carlton Gabriel, 22, appeared in the Port of Spain Fifth Magistrates’ Court before Senior Magistrate, Nanette Forde John Friday morning.
The officers were not called upon to plead.
Bail was set at $200,000 each.
The matter has been adjourned to September 7, 2018.
The charges arose out of an incident on June 21 in which the officers allegedly arrested the teen, took him to the police station, and robbed him of $21.
The crime was caught on surveillance cameras at the police station.
Gloudeon and Gabriel are required to report to the St James Police Station and Western Police Station weekly, and have been ordered not to have any contact with victim.
