50 ticketed for speeding

A speed exercise in St Joseph on Friday saw 50 motorists ticketed by Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch officers for speeding. 

The exercise, which took place along the Southern Main Road, Valsayn between 3:15pm and 6:15pm that day, was spearheaded by ACP (Ag.) McDonald Jacob and supervised by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Michael Daniel.

The highest speed recorded for the duration of the exercise was 89kph, while the speed limit for that area is 50kph.

In a separate exercise between 6 pm and 10 pm on the same day, five people were arrested for traffic violations; three for driving under the influence, one for possession of a fraudulent certificate of insurance and the other for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
