Former port worker caught with drugs

A 60-year-old man, who was police said was once employed with the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, is expected to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate on Monday on allegations of drug trafficking.

The man was held on Thursday night while attempting to disembark from the T&T Spirit at the port of Scarborough in Tobago.

When he was searched by officers of the Scarborough Criminal Investigations Department, and the Tobago Task Force, he was allegedly found with $60,000 in marijuana on his person.

As a result, he was immediately arrested.

The 60-year-old was questioned over the weekend and charged, and was scheduled to be brought before the courts on Monday.
