70 speeding tickets issued in Northern, Tobago Divisions
A total of over $70,000 has potentially been earned by the State following police exercises in the Northern Division and the Tobago Division on Saturday.
This number represents a total of 70 speeding tickets issued to motorists who were driving over the speed limit in the respective divisions during police exercises.
In the Northern Division, ACP McDonald Jacob and Snr. Supt. Michael Daniel, with assistance from officers of the Northern Division Speed Unit and the St. Joseph Police Station, conducted a road traffic exercise along Trantrill Road, Caroni.
The exercise was conducted between 12:50 pm and 3:50 pm on Saturday and resulted in 50 persons being ticketed for driving over the speed limit.
On the same day in the Tobago division, exercises spearheaded Snr Sup Joanne Archie resulted in 20 speeding tickets being issued.
Three people were held for driving under the influence, while a total of 40 people were arrested for a variety of offences including drug possession, robbery inquiries, and on outstanding warrants.
