73-year-old woman robbed in Tunapuna

Tunapuna police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who robbed a 73-year-old woman.

The victim told investigators that around 5pm Tuesday she was walking along Basilon Street, when she was accosted by an unknown individual.

The man pointed an object to her and announced a hold up.

He then proceeded to grab the woman’s handbag, which contained her cash and valuables, before fleeing the scene.

The woman raised an alarm however, the suspect made good his escape.

The 73-year-old woman was then helped to the Tunapuna police station where a report was lodged.

Police are combing through CCTV footage with the aim of making an arrest in the immediate future.

However, anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the police station or they can give the information anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS.
