74 arrested in Operation Strike Back; guns, drugs, ammo seized
Seventy-four persons were arrested with one firearm and a quantity of narcotics and ammunition seized by police, following Operation Strike Back exercises in the Southern Division this week.
These exercises took place from October 24 to 25. They involved officers attached to police stations throughout the Southern Division.
A total of 99 stop and searches were conducted; 17 fixed penalty notices issued while 1.34 kilogrammes of marijuana, seven grammes of cocaine, and one Browning Fabrique National pistol loaded with five rounds of .380mm ammunition were seized in the Marabella district.
Of the 74 arrested; 55 were for outstanding warrants, 10 for possession of marijuana, two for stolen vehicles, two for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, one for housebreaking and larceny, one for burglary, one for malicious wounding, one for possession of cocaine and one for illegally residing in the country.
The exercises were spearheaded by acting ACP South, Jayson Forde, and were supervised by Snr Supt Zamsheed Mohammed, Supt Yusuff Gaffar, acting ASP Peter Ramdeen, Voster Yearwood and Rohan Pardassie.
