80-yr-old woman beaten, hospitalised after robbery
An 80-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was beaten and cut during a home invasion in Chaguanas.
The victim told police that she was at her home at Xavier Street around 7:00 am when a man she knows from the community forced his way into her home.
The man, armed with a knife, announced a hold-up and demanded money.
The attacker then hit the elderly woman and stood behind her, holding a knife to her neck, and continued with his demands.
During the ordeal, the man even pulled the knife across the elderly woman’s face and cut her.
The victim told the man she only had $200 in cash and gave the money to him.
The suspect then fled the scene.
An alarm was raised and the 80-year-old woman was taken to the Chaguanas health facility and then transferred to Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.
More on this as it becomes available.
