9 things to know about Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas

Come March, Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas will take to the seas, making its first set of trips in Europe before heading to the Caribbean.

Home to this year's Soca on the Seas event in November,, the ship is billed as the largest in the world and said to be the fastest.

Here are ten things you should know about Symphony of the Seas.

1: One of a kind facilities

Symphony of the Seas will have more cabins than its sibling, Harmony of the Seas, including a first-of-its-kind, two-deck-high family suite with a slide between floors. It'll also have a revamped Boardwalk amusement area and a new-for-Royal Caribbean seafood restaurant. 

2: More passengers

When it comes to passengers, the Symphony of the Seas will accommodate more than any other cruise ship. It'll be able to hold up to 6,680 passengers.

3: More to do

The ship will boast dozens of lounges, bars and restaurants as well as an array of deck-top amusements.

4: Entertainment for everyone

From Hairspray the theatrical production to laser tag, there are numerous activities designed to keep you or your family engaged.  Hairspray will be the brand’s first Broadway musical at sea and they have also included their own original content with Flight, complete with a life-size version of the original Wright Brothers plane.

5: Diverse dining

Eating will be no issue on this ship with a range of dining options at 20 restaurants that include Mexican food, Japanese food, Grilled food, a wine bar and an Italian restaurant from Chef Jamie Oliver. 

6: Lots for the kids

Ice skating, rock climbing, an aqua park, giant slides and Sugar Beach, a promenade with an assortment of confectionery will make this cruise a truly enjoyable one for your kids. 

7: The Ultimate Abyss

The Ultimate Abyss is the tallest slide at sea that corkscrews down 10 decks to the Boardwalk. Do you dare?

8: Stroll in Central Park

Central Park has been recreated on board the Symphony of the Seas with 12,000 lush tropical trees and plants installed in the Central Park neighbourhood, one of seven neighbourhoods, where you can take a stroll and relax.

9: No need to leave the family room

The bi-level Ultimate Family Suite is a playground for families with a slide for kids to get from their second-floor bedroom to the ground floor, a floor-to-ceiling LEGO wall, a wall-sized LED TV screen for movie nights, an air hockey table and 212-square-foot balcony with its own mini Luckey climber and whirlpool.
