AATT: American Airlines plane returns to gate without incident

The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT) has confirmed that an American Airlines flight destined for Miami had to return to the gate on Tuesday morning.

According to a release from the AATT, American Airlines Flight #AA2282 was about to depart for Miami at the Piarco International Airport at 5:45 am.

While the plane was taxiing, one of the Authority’s Apron Control Officers noticed an issue with the aircraft and notified Air Traffic Control.

The AATT said its usual emergency protocols were immediately activated. The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service quickly responded and the aircraft was able to return safely to the gate at the Piarco International Airport.

There were no reports of injuries to passengers.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

The AATT advised that flight operations at the Piarco International Airport continue as normal.
