The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT) is today addressing a video posted to social media, which shows bags of garbage left in one of the bathroom facilities inside the Piarco International Airport.

The AATT said the facility was closed to the public at the time but that “the actions of the staff of the contracted janitorial service provider are not consistent with the Authority’s Standard Operating Procedures for the storage and disposal of waste or the health and safety practices of the organisation.”

In a release, the AATT said the facility has since been cleared and thoroughly sanitised. The AATT says it has commenced action against the janitorial service provider for this very severe breach.

They have apologised to the public for this violation of the Authority’s standards and said the health, safety and customer experience at the airports remain their paramount concern.
