Activist due in court after appearing at pro-marijuana rally
Just hours after appearing at a pro-marijuana rally at Woodford Square, Port of Spain, on Sunday, a well-known marijuana activist was due to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday on allegations of weed possession.
The 31-year-old suspect, who was arrested last Friday, allegedly told police that “de Prime Minister say he go decriminalize it just now, doh worry".
According to police at about 5.30 pm on Friday, a team of officers from the Western Division Task Force comprising of Sgt Arneaud, PC Mc Clean, PC Sahadath & WPC Matthews, whilst on mobile patrol along Hamilton Street, Woodbrook observed a man standing on the pavement in front of Ghino Members Club.
The man was seen holding a white plastic bag in his hand.
However, upon seeing the police, the man immediately walked quickly into the establishment.
Suspicious of this activity, the officers went into the compound and confronted the individual.
He was found to be in possession of 113 grammes of marijuana.
As a result, the suspect was immediately arrested.
He was later granted station bail, and LoopTT was told, even made an appearance at the cannabis rally on Sunday.
