Adverse weather alert cancelled

Members of the public are advised that the adverse weather experienced across Trinidad and Tobago over the last 24 to 36 hours due to the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), will soon subside.

The Meteorological Service (Met Office) changed its Adverse Weather Alert from yellow to green on Thursday afternoon.

It said the most intense activity associated with the ITCZ has passed, however, few lingering showers are expected.

Flood waters will gradually subside in areas currently experiencing street/flash flooding.

As such, at-risk persons are asked to assess their environment for safety concerns and avoid taking unnecessary risks.

The met office added that this is the final public warning message for this adverse weather event.

Citizens are further advised to remain vigilant and to continue to monitor official sources for information.
