'Bystanders' make off with car after Morvant accident

Police are investigating a report in which two men robbed a 44-year-old woman of her vehicle after an accident in Morvant.

But officers were told that the two suspects weren't connected to the incident, but appeared to be bystanders at the scene.

They apparently saw and took advantage of an opportunity to seize the car while the woman was talking to the other party involved in the accident.

The incident took place just before 4 pm on Tuesday, along the Lady Young Road, Morvant.

Police said that the woman, who is from Valsayn, was driving her silver Nissan Versa south along the roadway when upon reaching the vicinity of Coconut Drive, she came into contact with another car.

Both drivers came out to discuss the accident and it was during this time that the two men seized the opportunity to jump into the woman’s car and drive off.

The police were notified, and shortly after, the vehicle was found and seized along Cipriani Street, Morvant.

WPC Wilson is continuing inquiries.
