After quiet Carnival, stabbing shakes Longdenville

Carnival celebrations in the Central Division went perfectly, according to police sources.

There were no reports of violence or any serious reports of crime.

It was acknowledged that there were some minor incidents of larceny and theft, but these reports were classed as minor.

Police noted that the only reports of serious incidents came after Carnival Celebrations, with two men suffering stab injuries following a confrontation in Longdenville this morning.

One of the men, sources said, was a police corporal.

The two men had gotten into an altercation, during which a knife was pulled out.

Both men sustained injuries, however, the wounds are not said to be life threatening.

A woman who is known to both men also suffered minor injuries in this incident.

Police also said a firearm was seized in the Freeport district last night, but this too was found after the completion of carnival celebrations.
