‘Alert’ causes delay in Galleons sailing
The Friday morning sailing of the Galleons Passage to Tobago encountered a delay after an alert caused the vessel to be stopped for a period of time.
The National Infrastructure Development Company (NIDCO) advised that a decision was taken by the vessel’s Master to reduce the sailing speed after an alert was seen on the bridge.
The vessel was stopped for 15 minutes (9:15 am to 9:30 am) to allow the engineering crew to conduct preliminary checks on the source of the alert.
On completion of the checks, the vessel resumed sailing at a reduced speed of 15 knots with an updated estimated arrival time of 12:30pm.
Further investigations are expected to take place when the vessel arrives at the Port in Tobago.
NIDCO has assured that safety remains its number one priority, as it apologised for the delay.
