Alleged drug dealer held in Las Cuevas
An alleged drug dealer in the Las Cuevas community was one of three persons detained Wednesday evening by officers of the North Eastern Division.
The suspect was held during a raid at his home at about 5:00 pm Wednesday.
The exercise was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Sagramsingh and ASP Michael Sooker, and Spearheaded by Sgt Sterlyn Taylor and Cpl Shiraz Ali.
Sgt Ronnie Rampallard of the Air Support Unit and Sgt Simeon Guelmo of the NEDTF, were among the senior officers who also gave aid.
The officers executed a search warrant at the home and they allegedly found and seized one Segur Protek pump action shotgun, one Tanfoglio 9mm pistol, one Jericho 9mm pistol and one Taurus Revolver.
A cache of assorted ammunition, including two magazines, 28 rounds 9mm ammunition and five rounds of .38mm (special edition) ammunition was found in lands behind the house.
A quantity of marijuana was also found.
As a result of the finds, the owner of the home, as well as two other men who were present, were all taken into custody.
The other two men, police said, would be charged for possession of firearms, possession of ammunition, and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
However, as to the owner of the home, he was taken into custody and questioned.
Investigators told LoopTT on Thursday morning that they were seeking legal advice on how to proceed against him. In the interim, however, he was said to be aiding police with further inquiries.
This exercise also included members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.
More on this as it becomes available.
