Aranguez Savannah Pavilion completed to tune of $5 million
The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (SporTT) handed over the Aranguez Savannah Pavilion this week.
Residents of the area now have access to enhanced facilities.
Receiving the keys and official documents were Minister of Sport and Community Development Shamfa Cudjoe, St Joseph MP Terrance Deyalsingh, Chairman of the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation Anthony Roberts and its CEO Dianne Lakhan. Also present were SporTT’s CEO Jason Williams along with Board member Hayden Mitchell.
Minister Cudjoe urged residents to use the facilities to build a sense of community through various sporting activities. This, as she noted that small ones such as this are integral to the “community life blood” of T&T.
Meanwhile, Deyalsingh urged his constituents to use the facility wisely and be watchmen to ensure it is not defaced and kept safe.
The pavilion was said to be completed within budget of approximately TT$5 million dollars.
SporTT CEO Jason Williams said the unique double-sided design is well placed and noted the excellent job done by the project team.
The pavilion can hold a total of 300 individuals - 150 per side. There are two team washroom and shower areas, male and female public toilets, as well as storage which are under tiers and internal.
A conference area in the upper floor with toilet facilities and kitchenette lends to Minister Cudjoe’s call for the facility to be a community builder.
