Arima market closed as vendor displays flu-like symptoms

The Arima Market has been shut down, after a vendor began displaying flu-like symptoms.

The Arima Borough Corporation on Sunday said immediate steps were taken to quarantine the vendor and his produce.

The market was subsequently shut down on the order of the Corporation's Chief Executive Officer in consultation with the Municipal Police.

The Borough Corporation has assured that the market will be sanitised with "immediate effect in the upcoming days".

It added that all steps are being taken to maintain the safety and health conditions for the burgesses of Arima.

The Corporation said a subsequent notice will be provided on the date of the market reopening.
