Arima men held with stolen car, gun, ammo

Two men were due to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Monday after they were held in a stolen vehicle, with a loaded firearm and approximately 30 rounds of ammunition.

According to reports, the men, who are both said to be from Pinto Road, Arima, were arrested on Friday morning by officers of the Northern Division and the Eastern Division.

According to police reports, the lawmen received information of a vehicle which was stolen at gunpoint from Valencia, at about 8:00 am that day.

A team of officers under the supervision of Snr Sup Nelson & Snr Sup Daniel, received key information which led them to a location along Demerara Road, Arima.

The officers had cause to stop and search a vehicle, which matched the description given in the all points bulletin.

The vehicle, with two male occupants, was searched and it was found to be the vehicle which was reported as stolen.

The firearm and ammunition were also found in the car.
