Arson suspected as house damaged in fire
Police are investigating a case of suspected arson, where a two-storey house caught on fire in Felicity.
The fire took place at 11 am on Monday, along Boundary Road, Felicity.
The victim is said to be a 30-year-old mortgage specialist at Scotiabank.
According to police reports, around 11 am on Monday, the woman was alerted that her home was on fire by a neighbour.
The woman made checks and saw that smoke was coming from the southern side of the building.
Concerned for her life, the woman exited the compound and notified the fire services.
A team of fire officers from the Chaguanas Fire Department, led by FSO Taylor, responded and they were able to contain the blaze before it spread to surrounding structures.
A panel van which was in the yard of the house was also destroyed by the fire.
The victim told police that she was of the belief that someone threw something through a window on the top floor of the southern side of the property, based on a noise she had heard prior to her being alerted.
