ASJA Charlieville Primary School closes as parent contracts COVID-19
A fifth school has been ordered to close after a parent of a Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The ASJA Charlieville Primary School is now closed until August 12 to prevent the spread of the virus.
In an advisory from the ASJA Education Board of Management, parents and teachers were advised of the closure.
The ASJA Education Board said the County Medical Officer of Health advised that all those who were in close contact with the student to self-quarantine out of an abundance of caution.
The Education Board assured that it, along with the school's Principal, is working with the relevant authorities to ensure that all established protocols and guidelines are being observed.
The school compound, classrooms and furniture are being thoroughly sanitised at this time.
The Education Board advised all teachers to remain vigilant for the onset of any flu-like symptoms.
In the event that an individual is experiencing any such symptoms, they are advised to contact the COVID-19 hotline, 877-WELL for further advice.
