Authorities attempt to identify burnt body in Cunupia

The fingerprints taken from a body which was discovered on Tuesday morning in Cunupia were due to be examined on Wednesday with the hopes of identifying the deceased.

The body, which police sources said was severely burnt, was found at about 11.30 am on Tuesday in a bushy area off Lime Tree Trace, Cunupia.

It was discovered by a farmer who was tending to his crops.

The police were notified, and the scene was secured.

However, the body was so badly burnt that officers were unable to determine the sex of the deceased, nor from a preliminary examination, what may have been the cause of death.

Police are continuing inquiries.

More on this as it becomes available.
