Autopsy: 93-yr-old Diego Martin man was strangled, beaten
An autopsy carried out on the body of 93-year-old murder victim Leo Bousigard revealed that the elderly man had not only been strangled but had also been brutally beaten.
The results of the autopsy done on Tuesday at the Forensic Science Center in St James confirmed that Bousigard died as a result of strangulation.
However, the autopsy also revealed that the 93-year-old was beaten by his assailant(s), as he suffered broken ribs, as well as injuries to his head.
Police said the home is still cordoned off as crime scene investigators search for evidential materials as well as workable fingerprints.
CCTV footage secured from homes in the area are also being reviewed.
According to police reports, the deceased was last seen alive at about 9:00 am on Monday sitting in his porch. He was said to be drinking a glass of coffee and reading a newspaper.
However, around 11:00 am that same day, a woman who assists Bousigard in cleaning his home, arrived at the premises. She found the door ajar and upon entering the house was said to be ransacked.
The woman made her way to the bedroom where she found Bousigard lying on the ground of his bedroom with a t-shirt was tied around his neck.
The police were immediately notified and a team of officers from the Western Division and the Homicide Bureau, visited the scene.
