Autopsy ordered into death of Arima couple
Autopsies were scheduled to take place on Wednesday to determine the cause of death of Lisa Ramdath, 30, and her common-law husband Henry Patterson.
The incident is suspected to be a case of murder/suicide, however, autopsies are needed to confirm this.
Ramdath was found dead at her home along Hilltop Drive, Arima, at about 7:00 am on Tuesday by her 55-year-old mother.
When the older woman arrived at the home, she found him lying on the living room of his home, sick.
She went to the bedroom and found her daughter lying motionless with blood coming from her mouth. She wasn’t breathing.
The older woman raised an alarm, and the police were notified.
A District Medical Officer (DMO) viewed the body and it was observed that Ramdath had no marks of violence on her body.
Patterson was taken into custody, however, while being interviewed, he showed further signs of discomfort.
He was taken to the Arima District Hospital and then the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, in Mt Hope.
However, he was later pronounced dead.
He also had no marks of violence on his body.
Thus, police suspect the two ingested poisonous substances, and an autopsy was ordered.
More on this as it becomes available.
