Autopsy reveals schoolteacher suffered heart attack

It was a heart attack, and not the accident, which resulted in the death of 50-year-old school teacher Dexter Pollard last Thursday.

Pollard’s body was recovered on Friday morning, after it had to be retrieved from a vehicle which had been observed hanging from a billboard along the Uriah Butler Highway in the vicinity of the Caroni Overpass.

An autopsy performed at the Forensic Science Center in St James revealed the school teacher did not die as a result of the impact, but rather from cardiac arrest.

It is suspected that Pollard suffered the heart attack while driving, which led to the crash.

The funeral for Pollard, who is from Oropune Gardens, Piarco, is tentatively set for Saturday.
