Autopsy shows Princes Town retiree died of asphyxiation

Retiree Azard Ali, who was found dead at his home in Princes Town on Monday morning, died as a result of asphyxiation.

A post-mortem revealed that the 60-year-old died as a result of an obstruction in his airways by a foreign object.

Ali had been tied up and gagged with a piece of cloth during a robbery at his home.

He had retired as a Supervisor III with the Works and Transport Ministry in April.

He was last seen alive on Friday.

According to police reports, on Monday morning a foul stench was detected coming from Ali’s home, and neighbours notified his relative.

The relative upon arriving at the home observed the front door was open and Ali’s red Nissan Sylphy was missing.

Upon entering the home, he found Ali’s body on the floor.

More on this as it becomes available.
