Back pay for ex-Petrotrin temporary workers by mid January

Former temporary and casual staff with Petrotrin can expect to receive their outstanding back pay no later than January 15.

This, as Petrotrin says that calculations of outstanding back pay is “well advanced”.

Some 2,069 of Petrotrin’s former non-permanent workers are owed back pay for the seven-year period 2011 to 2018.

Petrotrin says the process for determining the amounts owed to each ex-employee requires a considerable amount of detailed work as in any one year an individual may have worked in different jobs for different periods of time at different salaries/wages.

As a result, each individual case therefore has to be researched thoroughly and calculated independently.

Petrotrin says this work is ongoing and close to 75 percent completed. It added that payments are expected to be made on or before January, 15 2019.

The Company restated its commitment to ensuring that each eligible worker receives the monies due to them “as quickly as practical and is working towards its commitment”.
