Bail denied for man accused of chopping attack on family
A 40-year-old man has been denied bail, after appearing before a Siparia Magistrate on allegations of attacking and wounding three family members with the intent to kill them.
Evans Cornwall appeared before Siparia Magistrate Ava Vandenburg-Bailey.
He was represented by attorney Vishan Girwar.
The State’s interest was represented by police prosecutor Sgt Sheldon Salazar.
Cpl Ramlal was the complainant (charging officer) in the matter.
The State objected to bail, noting the seriousness of the allegations, and the fact that all three victims were still warded in a serious condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.
After further submissions, the matter was adjourned to June 4.
On Sunday morning, Leslie Forrester, 57, Jennifer Alexander, 55, and Lizann Forrester, 30, were all attacked and chopped multiple times about their bodies during an attack at the family’s Palo Seco home.
The screams of the injured alerted neighbours, who ran to assist, and the police and paramedics were notified.
This eventually led to the detention of the suspect, and charges being laid against him.
More on this as it becomes available.
