Bail for UWI students held with marijuana
Three university students have appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate on allegations of marijuana possession.
19-year-old Kyle Solomon, of La Romaine, 22-year-old Josh Bahadur, and 26-year-old Jerome Gosine, all of Penal, were arrested in San Fernando on September 6 after 150 grammes of marijuana were allegedly found in the vehicle in which they were sitting.
The three appeared before senior magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine on Thursday to answer the charges.
Solomon and Bahadur, the court was told, both attended the University of the West Indies while Gosine was a student of the School of Accounting and Management (SAM).
Defence attorney Dane Halls, who represented the defendants, made bail applications, noting that his clients were not criminals and prior to this incident, had clean records.
After further submissions, Antoine upheld the submissions of the attorney and set bail at $15,000 for each of the accused.
The matter was then adjourned to October 2.
PC Darryl Phagoo was the complainant (charging officer) in this matter.
