Bail for Woodland man on burglary, assault charges
A Woodland man has been granted $50,000 own bail after burglarising the home of a 42-year-old woman.
Roger Seunarine, 33, was granted bail when he appeared before Magistrate Alicia Chankar, at the San Fernando 2nd Magistrates’ Court, last Wednesday.
He was also charged with assault by beating and assault occasioning a wound.
Seunarine plead not guilty to the offences.
The matter has been adjourned to June 25.
The woman was at her Church Street, La Romaine home with a friend, when around 11:30 pm last Saturday, a man she knows began banging on the front door, demanding entry into the house.
She and her friend hid in a bedroom, but the man and another male suspect, managed to force their way into the house.
She and her friend were dealt several blows.
One of the victims’ cellphone was also stolen during the incident.
Luckily, they managed to escape and made a report at the San Fernando Police Station.
Seunarine was subsequently arrested by officers of the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department (CID) the following day.
PC Gerard Piper laid the charges.
