Bamboo still inundated by floodwaters

Many communities in Bamboo Settlement are still inundated by floodwaters, according to the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government.

The Ministry said reports indicate that flood waters are slowly receding as riverine water levels decrease.

The area suffered extensive flooding with the passage of Tropical Storm Karen on Monday.

Some residents lost everything, while others were forced to evacuate their homes due to rising flood waters.

Officers of the Disaster Management Unit and members of the Defense Force was on the scene assisting with relief operations.

The Bamboo Settlement Government Primary School located on Jaffar Street remains open as a shelter.
