Bandit shot dead by police identified
The man who was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon following a confrontation with police in Enterprise has been identified as 23-year-old Jabarie Chambers of Belmont.
A fingerprint trace was taken of the deceased and it was revealed that he had 14 matters pending in court for several offences relating to robbery.
Chambers was shot dead during a confrontation at about midday on Wednesday along Pierre Road, Enterprise.
According to police reports, a team of officers from the Central Division had arrived at a home along the roadway as they were searching for suspects who were involved in a robbery of a Chinese National along Eleanor Street, Chaguanas, earlier that day.
Upon arriving at the house, the officers were greeted with gunfire.
Fearful for their lives the officers returned fire with their licensed weapons.
In the aftermath, PC Rajpat was shot in the ankle.
The armed assailant was hit several times.
Both injured parties were rushed to the Chaguanas District Hospital.
However, the assailant succumbed to his injuries.
